The curse of loving classic rock

I've always had a thing for classic music, as opposed to the current junk.....and I say junk because 98% of the music that comes out today IS junk. No real lyrics, no real voices, and most of them don't even play instruments! Well the downfall of loving classic rock - or at least my downfall, maybe I'm paranoid - is the "radio effect". While driving in the car the other day, I reach into my purse for my iPod and it's not there. So - I put the radio on. I hear "Fly like an Eagle" by Steve Miller Band - I love the Steve Miller Band, that was great. So, I listen to that song, it ends and goes into the infinite amount of radio commercials. I'm flipping stations, and another SMB songs comes on - this time, it's "The Joker" I love that song....but now I'm thinking, that's odd - to hear SMB on 2 separate channels within minutes of each other. Then I heard another song, about 15 minutes later..."Wild Mountain Honey" and I'm like - oh man, somebody in the SMB died, I know it, that's the only reason they'd be playing so much of them on the radio. So I'm listening for news, or something - yearning for my computer so I could look up and see if Steve Miller died or not, but alas, he didn't thank goodness! How bad is it I think that way haha! But it's true, you just don't hear that music on the radio anymore - once maybe, but multiple times in a short period of time? Nah, that's not likely. Justin Timberlake & Britney- sure, you'll hear them tons, but good music - where people can actually sing without the aid of a digital enhancement and ::gasp:: people actually KNEW now to play an instrument! These pop musicians should be embarrassed of themselves - publishing an album without even knowing how to play an instrument, compile a chord - and just barely recognize a key.
This is why I listen to classic rock - The Beatles, Simon & Garfunkel, Johnny Cash, The Stones, Bob Dylan -artist's like these are a dying breed. These artist's have survived the test of time - I can't think of anybody on TRL's top ten that will pass that same test - can you? No, probably not. I remember my sister - she was in 4th grade and absolutely in love with obsessed Britney Spears - (in my sisters credit - it was early Briteny) I used to tease her about it and of course she insisted that Britney was immortal and would stand the test of time - thankfully, she feels differently now - but she's still not where she should be with her musical taste - but hey, for a going on sophomore, I'll take what I can get lol - I have plenty of time to work on her, my mom and I just bombarded her ipod with GOOD music.

Well, that's all for now - try to listen to good music!
