I'm not an old woman anymore

So, after a full day of the plumber calling me "Maam" , a guy just came to the door selling newspapers, and when I answered he said "Hi, is your mom home?" I laughed and said....."no, my mom doesn't live here"

He was a college student @ Rutgers selling test runs of the Times, free samples basically for a few sundays, and if he gets enough points, he'll win money for college. So, hell. I did it. Plus, I don't feel like an old lady.

My youth is restored lol

Tis The Season!

Well today is Black Friday, and that means it is officially the Christmas (yes, CHRISTmas) Season! Hubby & I went out and took advantage of some good deals, the best of which - we got Trivial Pursuit 80's Edition AND a Rubix Cube for uber cheap (think, under $8), don't ask how, just stand in awe of us. Crowds weren't as bad as I thought - though, I didn't go out in the "camp all night for the 3-10am hour sales" crowd, I went out around 12:30, and it wasn't bad at all. It was actually kinda fun.
New things - I've been listing tons of new stuff on my Etsy store, so check it out if you haven't already. I'm trying to list something new every day, in an effort to up the sales. All this weekend, and hell, Monday too - 10% off - just let me know you came from the blog and I'll knock off the price! I take custom orders too!

I'll leave you with a bit of cute-ness I took some pics of Neil tonight, and he looks absolutely adorable!

New Art Listing!

Hi!

I've just finished my latest piece of art, I call it Extraordinary Love

cropped

"Anything Less than Extraordinary is a Waste of Time"

this quote is from one of my fav movies - "Dream for an Insomniac". So many times people waste their lives with mediocre love - it's not worth it. This sign is here to remind you of that!

If you buy this piece, you'll see the back - it started out as a sign for my friends baby's room, and well, it just wasn't "extraordinary" so I ditched it and started over hehe, which is part of what inspired this new painting!

Solid Pine Plaque

Hanging hardware already installed on back.
Acrylic Paint
Polyurithane finish

iPimp your iPod or iMac

Great deal on Belkin's website - and they have great stuff for Apple iPods & Macs, & you all know I looooove Apple! I'm dying for this!

As a reader discovered, Belkin.com again chops 40% off most items via coupon code "12345". Some items are excluded, including sale items and PureAV products. It's also worth noting that the discount is taken from Belkin's list prices, which are well above street prices. However, several items, like USB KVMs and iPod accessories, are eligible, some at lowest-we've-seen prices.

Body parts are new currency in strip clubs?

Only in New Jersey will you find a stripper with skulls and formaldehyde hands in her bedroom. Now - the article doesn't mention the fact that body parts were traded for services - but does it even need to be said? I think it's pretty obvious though. That's one quirky stripper. I'd assume most strippers would prefer money, jewelry, designer clothes - but nope, not this one - she only shakes her booty for pieces of cadavers. She'll love you long time for the right kind of "stiffy" lol. The puns are just too easy, I better quit while I'm ahead.
For anyone who wants to read the real story:
Medical school graduate accused of taking hand from cadaverThe Associated PressNEW BRUNSWICK, N.J. - A doctor who graduated from a New Jersey medical school has pleaded not guilty to stealing a hand from a school cadaver and giving it to an exotic dancer, authorities said.Ahmed Rashed, a 2005 graduate of the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey, was charged Monday after voluntarily returning from Los Angeles, where he is in a residency program, said his lawyer, Hassen Abdellah.Rashed, 26, is free on $1,000 bail. The dancer, Linda Kay, kept the hand in a jar of formaldehyde in her bedroom in South Plainfield. Friends have said she called the hand "Freddy."Police discovered the hand, along with six human skulls, at Kay's home in July. Kay, 31, has pleaded not guilty to unlawful disposal of human remains.Click Here! The left hand was taken in May or June 2002, according to an investigation by UMDNJ and South Plainfield police, said Middlesex County Assistant Prosecutor Judson Hamlin. In a statement from spokeswoman Anna Farneski, UMDNJ said, "The investigation is ongoing and we will continue working with the prosecutor's office to determine how this crime was perpetrated."The charge against Rashed carries up to 10 years in prison.

New Jersey - if the water doesn't kill you, your neighbors will (and incidentally, both of those links are about Toms River, my home town!) - and then you might end up in a hooker, er, strippers bedroom, nicknamed Freddie.

ah ya gotta love Jersey. I know I do - and hey, at least it's not South Carolina!

5 Years Later -

Tomorrow will be 5 years since the terrorist attacks on the World Trade Center -September 11, 2001 - a date to never forget. It's hard to believe that it's been that long since all that devastation because it is all so fresh in my mind, and the minds around me. I live in NJ, about one and a half hours from NYC. Every time that I'm on the road, I see a bumper sticker on a car that reads something along the lines of "9/11 We Will Never Forget" Every time I'm out in the public, I'll see at least one person wearing some sort of remembrance T shirt, hat, or even with a tattoo. And each time I look out my front door, or drive down Main Street I see the American flag proudly displayed on numerous homes and businesses. It's a good feeling, a feeling of pride, a feeling of togetherness, a feeling of safety - I know, that despite the differences that I have with these people - political, religious, moral, race - whatever the difference, I know one thing - we have a common likeness created through the mourning of September 11th.

Pet Peeve

I can't stand it when people loose something, then find it and say

"of course it was in the last place I looked"

well of course it was, because after you find it, your not going to keep looking are you?

Bah - it just bugs me!

The curse of loving classic rock

I've always had a thing for classic music, as opposed to the current junk.....and I say junk because 98% of the music that comes out today IS junk. No real lyrics, no real voices, and most of them don't even play instruments! Well the downfall of loving classic rock - or at least my downfall, maybe I'm paranoid - is the "radio effect". While driving in the car the other day, I reach into my purse for my iPod and it's not there. So - I put the radio on. I hear "Fly like an Eagle" by Steve Miller Band - I love the Steve Miller Band, that was great. So, I listen to that song, it ends and goes into the infinite amount of radio commercials. I'm flipping stations, and another SMB songs comes on - this time, it's "The Joker" I love that song....but now I'm thinking, that's odd - to hear SMB on 2 separate channels within minutes of each other. Then I heard another song, about 15 minutes later..."Wild Mountain Honey" and I'm like - oh man, somebody in the SMB died, I know it, that's the only reason they'd be playing so much of them on the radio......read more Read More...

Forgive and Forget?

Is it foolish to forgive and forget? Does it set you up for disappointment later in life, does it make you more likely to get hurt again? I mean, if a person hurts you once, what's to stop them from doing it again and again? Where do you draw the line, on what you'll forgive, or how many times you'll forgive. Is it even possible to forgive and forget? Forgiveness, sure - I'm a very forgiving person because ultimately I'd rather be happy and not holding grudges than spend the energy being unhappy with someone. You could even say I'm forgiving to a fault, maybe I forgive too easily. But am I setting myself up to get hurt again? Does forgetting leave you vulnerable? Do you judge the risk of forgive and forget vs the reward of the person your forgiving' friendship? Are some people worth getting hurt, even if they've hurt you before? How many times will you touch the flame, even though you've learned it's hot? ...... Click Read more.... Read More...

My Baby - the Comic Hero

Neil is almost 5 months, he's blowing past all the normal milestones babies are supposed to meet - as if they born with a calendar, knowing the date "oh, I'm 4 month's today, time to start grabbing at specific objects & rolling over" lol - but he's doing them all, he's always had great head control, he's been rolling from his tummy to his back, he grabs at his toys and can put things in his mouth - ie, teething ring, binky (though not always the right way hehe, it' just kinda luck of the draw with the binky) But...guess what? My baby has special super powers - he is a regular Comic Book Hero. He has a 6th sense - he can psychically tell what temperature my dinner is, and he won't finish nursing until it's met a cool 70* lol. I've become quite good at eating with one hand and nursing the lil bean-o with the other.........picture behind the cut! Read More...

My art is online & for sale!

After years of inactivity (as far as web stuff is concerned) I've finally configured my art website. You can check it out at art.originalabbie.com. Almost all my artwork is displayed, sold & unsold. I paint with acrylics - and I'll usually paint anything I can get my hands on, furniture, home decor - I've been known to paint murals on my wall when I'm out of other things to paint! My style is tough to pin down - I'd say folky, hippy, modern, bold & fun - most of all, it's unique to me! It's available for sale online now too, in addition to being available at some non-chain stores - and of course, through me. You can find my online store - here at AbbieRoad.Etsy.com Read More...

::SCREAMS::

ok, I'm sitting here nursing the baby - a giga-mundus (yes, it was that big I have to make up my own word for it) bug flies down onto my arm.

kudos to me for not jumping up and screaming at the top of my lungs with the baby in my arms - like I would have done had the baby not been in my arms/vicinity

I did jump up quickly - after semi-freaking and blowing the bug off my arm. Put the baby safely down in his wiggly bean chair.....ran like hell into the kitchen got like 13 & 1/2 paper towels & attacked the monster bug.

I think *every* bug I see is a cock roach unless I can immediately identify it as..... Read More...
