Who are you? Where are your roots?
My name is Hazel. I was born in England and now live in Nova Scotia, Canada with my husband Craig and two daughters; Jemma and Amber and Archie (an affectionate ginger cat).

What were you like in High School?
A bit shy, definitely more creative/arty than academic. I had good friends, lots of laughs and some teachers I would rather forget!

What would you consider your muse?
My inspiration for my work comes from my two daughters; Jemma and Amber, I have been making things for them since before they were born! quilts, mobiles, clothing and toys. I still run my new designs by them even though they are now teenagers and I value their feedback. I love to make pretty things for girls, my favourite fabric designs are Cath Kidston and Laura Ashley.

What is your favorite medium, and why?
Fabric, because I have loved to sew since I was a little girl, both by hand and on my sewing machine.

Tell me about your artwork, what is your style?
My style is a mix really, I love soft pastel colours, my home is quite shabby chic (Cath Kidston), a little vintage with plenty of Scandinavian influence, white wood and some distressed pieces. I love polka dots, ribbons and buttons (which I collect).

Who do you think your top market is?
Anyone who likes cute, pretty things, and appreciates good quality hand made unique items.

Who is your most favorite and least favorite celebrity?
My most favorite celebrity is Tom Welling (Smallville) Dreamy!
My least favorite is Marilyn Manson - Creepy!

Do you listen to music while you create? If so, which, and who is your favorite?
I usually listen to what ever my two daughters like, they have downloaded all the music onto the laptop. At the moment Justin Timberlake and Nelly Furtado. I do like latin dance music though, it makes me feel happy inside.

Other than creating art - what is your favorite hobby?
Decorating and painting furniture, I would paint everything white if I could! Last summer I painted and distressed 6 different old wooden chairs. I found them at yard sales, it was such fun!

What do you believe is essential for an etsy seller?

A creative mind, patience, friendly personality and a unique style.
